The Hidden Costs of Portable Toilet Rentals: What You Need to Know

PortaPros Rent Online

When considering a portable toilet rental agreement, it’s crucial to be aware of potential hidden costs that could impact your overall expenses. These hidden costs may include:

  • Delivery and Setup Fees: Some companies charge extra for the delivery, setup, and removal of portable toilets, which can significantly increase costs.
  • Servicing Fees: The initial quote might not include regular cleaning and maintenance costs. Be sure to ask how frequently the units will be serviced and if there are any associated costs for that service.
  • Damage Waiver Fees: Rental agreements may include a non-refundable damage waiver fee that covers potential damages to the units during the rental period.
  • Environmental Fees: Additional charges might be applied for environmental compliance, including handling waste in an eco-friendly manner.
  • Overtime Charges: If you need the toilets longer than initially planned, there could be overtime fees for extended rental periods.
  • Cancellation Fees: Check the vendor’s policy on handling cancellations. You might incur fees if you cancel the service after a certain deadline.
  • Permitting Fees: Depending on your location and event size, you may need a permit to place portable toilets. The rental cost usually does not cover this fee and must be organized and paid separately.
  • Fuel and Inflation Surcharges: Due to fluctuating fuel prices and general inflation, additional surcharges may apply to cover increased transportation and operational costs.
  • Sanitizer Refills: The initial rental package may not include regular refills for hand sanitizers provided within the portable toilets. Inquire about the frequency of refills and any additional charges for this service.
  • Containment Trays: If required for environmental safety or to prevent spills on sensitive surfaces, containment trays can be placed under portable toilets. This added measure ensures compliance with local regulations and protects the venue grounds, possibly incurring an additional charge.
  • Staking Fees: To ensure safety and compliance, staking down units may be necessary to prevent the highway district or safety inspector from creating a "project warning" or issuing a "stop work order." This process involves securely anchoring the units to the ground, which may incur an additional fee.
  • Relocation Fees: Moving a unit from one location to another, whether it's a few feet or to the opposite side of the job site, can incur a relocation charge. This fee covers the labor and equipment needed to safely and efficiently relocate the unit as required by the project.

Knowing these potential hidden costs beforehand can help you budget more accurately and avoid unexpected expenses.

How Renting With PortaPros Is Different And What To Expect

At PortaPros, we are committed to providing our customers with clear and straightforward dealings. Long-Term Rentals

At PortaPros, our long-term rentals are anything over a two-week period. A long-term quote will encompass the unit rental, servicing at your desired frequency, and restocking of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Delivery and pick-up are an additional charge based on where we deliver the products, but we always include it in our quotes and initial pricing.

Short-Term Rentals

When you rent a unit for a weekend event such as a wedding or a family BBQ, we consider this or anything under two weeks a short-term rental. A short-term quote will be a flat rate based on your chosen product. The flat rate pricing will include unit rental, one service at the end of the rental period, toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and both delivery & pick up.
